im a mother of 3 and i agree that women should not breastfeed in public unless they have one of those cover ups. i don't like to see any type of bodily fluid, nor do i want my son oogling at a woman's breast being sucked on. It's called class. It's called respect for others. It's called modesty.

I'm a student at a university. I have heard all about how breast milk is supposed to be best etc. I cannot helpe but feel that they are trying to make it sound much better than it actually is. There really is no significant difference with breastfed and formula fed children. In fact breastmilk lacks Vitamin D. Most people think breastmilk has everything a baby needs, which is not true.
Aside from that, I do think that breastfeeding is gross. I hate seeing it in public. I do not understand why so many mothers think it is okay to do it! I would hate going out with my boyfriend and seeing some women expose her breast. I would feel so uncomfortable. Weather you women like it or not, breast ARE sexual! Men(and sometimes women) always have and probably always will think they are! It is not just a western culture thing. Asians love breasts too! It's funny how women think breastfeeding is the only way, too. Yeah, 300 years ago it worked, and it still works today. But there are OTHER ways. Modest ways. We've grown with technology and science. Breastfeeding is disgusting in general and doing so in public is beyond offensive. Why would I want to see something a woman considers "intimate," "sensual," or "fulfulling?" That shit should be kept private! If you look beyond popular culture and mainstream publications to the actual science, you will find very little difference between the effects of breastfeeding vs formula. Breastfeeding is simply another bodily function like taking a shit or getting your period, both of which are natural, but we don't do it in public! There is no longer a need for breastfeeding, and if science affords us a way to get beyond such nasty, primitive bodily functions then we should take it!

A child's immune system is only working at 60% until the age of 2, so the added antibodies from breastmilk is really beneficial. And not sure where you came up with the idea of "they only need milk for 6 months" but the AAP states that they need breastmilk of formula for at least a year. Really cannot stand people that decide to judge when they literally have no idea what they are talking about. I plan on breastfeeding my son (who is 8 months old now) till he is at least 2 years old. And I dare anyone to say to my face that "it's disgusting" or to "cover up" or that I'm a "pervert" I double dare you.
Public breastfeeding is uncomfortable to the people around. Use a coverup, go to your car, go to the corner and turn around, no one wants to see it. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask nursing mothers to use a drape. That's how my sister-in-law did it. They're kind of like big cotton bibs: they cover Mom from neck to lap and Baby is safely tucked away underneath. My SIL preferred to feed my niece in private but she did sometimes run into situations where it wasn't possible, so then she would use the drape and the rest of us would look away in order to give her some privacy.
What nobody thinks about is that when a woman randomly whips out her tit, even in such a worthy cause as feeding her child, SHE is violating the privacy of every person in the vincinity. I don't want to meet your boobs if I don't even know your name. I also find women breatfeeding toddlers in public very disturbing. I keep wondering how much is really for Mom, rather than for the kid.

It's astounding how blatantly ignorant some of you are. Breastmilk is far superior to formula. When you breastfeed, your child's saliva sends signals to your breast telling them exactly what needs to be in their milk. When you are sick, your breast create antibodies for the exact illness you have to prevent your child from getting sick. Breasrfeeding prevents childhood cancers, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and uterine cancer. Breastfeeding also prevents oral deformities. As far as covering up, it gets extremely hot under a cover, and most babies will just tear it off anyway. On to babies only needing milk for six months, this couldn't be farther from the truth. Even formula fed children should still be on formula after the age of one to ensure they receive adequate nutrtion. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a year at the very least and consider the age of 2 ideal. The WHP recommends every baby be breastfed for at least six months. Breasts are not sexual, you have made them that way. The reason males are attracted to breasts is purely biological, as larger breasts indicated more estrogen, and higher fertility. To the women saying their breasts are for their husbands only, or that they would rip a woman's breast off if she attempted to feed her child, you need therapy and you have my sympathy for your insecurities. Hi,I understand that breastfeeding may be uncomfortable for some, but it's actually beneficial for the baby. My brother and I both had formula and we both normally get colds, even in the summer; it's rare that one of us will not be coughing/sneezing/sniffling/etc. Breastfeeding is good for the baby and the mother. I saw that some people were referring to babies as 'brats', they are not, they are young humans (many of which will grow up to be little pricks if some of you act towards your children in a remotely similar way as to how you have acted on here, and not just anti-breastfeeding people) who need food. Breasts are for babies, not sexual pleasure. My friends that were breastfed are smarter and healthier than those who were bottle fed. It's not because of living standards either.
In conclusion, breastfeeding is natural. If it disturbs you, I'm sorry, but either use common sense and look away or get over it. It's usually healthier. By the way, this is all coming from a dumb thirteen year old.

I think breastfeeding is in fact wrong because why would a mom want their child to turn them on? No matter what its going to happen. Its wrong, well in my eyes. Everyone has their own opinions and i wont bash them for it. Just think its weird. Prolly just me.
